Avoid Running Out of Bioheat® Fuel This Winter

Bioheat® Fuel providers are always looking out for New York City and Long Island homeowners who are looking for a reliable source of home heating fuel. Not only that, but we tend to give great advice as well!

As an example of our advice-giving abilities, here are some ways you can avoid running out of fuel as we make our way through another New York winter!

1.      Know how to read your oil tank gauge

First thing’s first, make sure you know where your oil tank gauge is and how to read it. The gauge reads like the gas gauge on a car, with marks for Full, ¾, ½, ¼ and Empty.

2.      Regularly check the tank

It is especially important during the coldest time of the year to check your fuel tank levels on a regular basis. Make it a habit to check or even set a reminder on your phone!

3.      Watch the weather

Knowing when the temperatures are expected to drop or if a heavy snowstorm is in the forecast will give you ample time to order fuel so you have it when you need it.

4.      Don’t wait too long to order fuel

Plenty of us are guilty of letting our cars’ gas tanks run low. The risk is running out of gas before you reach the next gas station! Same idea applies to your heating oil tank: If you wait too long, you may not have enough to make it until your next delivery.

With these tips – and your local Bioheat® Fuel provider – we’re sure you’ll enjoy ample comfort this winter season!
