A Tank in Time

A benefit of using Bioheat® fuel is the ability to store your home heating fuel on your property, where it isn’t susceptible to power outages and you have access to it whenever you need it. However, your tank can also be at risk of taking on one too many rough winters. There are many signs that appear when it’s about time to replace your oil tank. Here are a couple of things to consider when assessing the health of your oil storage tank.

An older tank has been exposed to the environment both inside and out. Condensation may accumulate inside the tank on humid days over the course of many years. This water can lead to rust, which can cause a release over time.

Today, many service companies install tanks with coated copper lines, which helps protect against releases. Replacing your old tank with tanks equipped with this copper tubing can protect your system and your property.

If you’re concerned for the condition of your storage tank, you should call your local Bioheat® dealer and ask them to take a look. If it needs to be replaced, don’t forget to ask about the Upgrade & Save New York City & Long Island Rebate Program.  By installing a new aboveground oil storage tank to replace an aboveground or underground tank, you can earn $300 in rebates through this program.
